“Behold I was brought forth in inequity, and in sin my mother Conceived me”(Psalms.106.5)
“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners” (Romans.5.19)
“None is righteous no not one…..All have turned aside, together they have gone wrong; no one does good, not even one.”(Romans.3.10-12)
The sum of all works done by man to solve the 'sin problem' can be called as ‘man made religion’. For centuries, man tried to reconcile with God by his own efforts. It includes good works, sacrifices and offerings. Although all these things may be good,God cannot accept them. Mango is good but if it is offered from an ugly hand, it will be accepted by none.
“We are all infected and impure with sin. When we proudly display our righteous deeds, we find they are but filthy rags” (Isaiah.64.6)
“For though hast no delight in sacrifice; were I to give a burnt offering, though wouldst not pleased.”(Psalms.51.16)
When all the efforts of man to reconcile with God failed, seeing his pitiful condition, God had mercy upon him.
"But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound…..”(Romans.5.20)
So God himself prepared a way for the salvation of mankind…such a simple way!!
“For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John.3.16)
God made the way of salvation so simple that through faith anyone can attain it.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God-not because of works, lest any man should boast.”(Ephesians.2.8, 9)
God made it simple and absolutely free for each of us. But God Himself had to pay for it and suffer in our place. That means nothing is actually free of cost, somebody has to pay for it.
Dear reader, Jesus Christ came to this world dividing the history in to two to pay the penalty of the sins of the mankind. Yes, yours too. He died on the cross of Calvary in place of you as a perfect and acceptable sacrifice before the righteousness of God.
Prophet Isaiah foresaw the sacrificial death of Jesus 700 years before it happened on the cross.
“Yes it was our sickness he carried; it was our disease that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God for His own sins! But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped and we were healed! All of us have strayed away like sheep .We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the guilt and sins of us all……But it was LORD’s good plan to crush him and fill him with grief. Yet when His life is made an offering for sin, he will have a multitude of children” (Isaiah.53.4-10)
In Apostle Paul’s words:-
“For God made Christ who never sinned, to be the offering of our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”(2 Corinthians.5.21)
Thus on the cross of Calvary, God himself done everything needed for the remission of the sins of all. Jesus did everything in place of us to fulfill what the law of God demanded from us sinners. He paid what we could not pay.
How can you be personally benefited from this?
Many ask this question: How the blood of Jesus shed 2000 years back can wash my sins today?
The salvation plan of God did not end up just with the death and burial of Jesus. On the third day, fulfilling the prophetic scriptures, Jesus Christ rose up from the dead. Then He appeared to His disciples and commanded them to preach the Good News to all mankind unto the end of the ages. The risen Lord also promised that when anywhere at anytime this gospel is shared, He will grant His presence to forgive ,save and to heal those who believe on Him. (Mathew.28.16-20;Mark.16.15-20) Yes, He is alive and still working today.
Now dear friend, as you read this, the same Jesus is standing beside you knocking at the door of your heart. Open your heart and welcome Him by believing and confessing with your mouth like this:
'Dear Jesus, I believe that you came to earth , died for my sins and rose up on the third day. I confess you as my Lord and saviour. Come in to my heart, forgive my sins and make me a new creation - Amen'.
